That is when Roland Dwayne Dillard bought the business from Gus Vincent. RD as he was known, worked Dillard Feed & Seed until his death in Mar 1984. Then his wife Jean took over the business until 1992 when her daughter Cynthia took it over. The building that is owned by the Dillard family  was once Fleming Produce Company. According to the Chamber of Commerce, in their booklet Historic Downtown Walking Tour the building has been used in several ways. It served "the passenger of the nearby train depots and offered sleeping rooms, a restaurant, and even a saloon." There are two different buildings that serve Dillard Feed & Seed. The Southern two-story brick structure being the oldest being built about 1883. By 1905 the stone building on the north was constructed to house Webster, Hill & Baker wholesale grocery. Between 1940 thru the 1960's this site housed J R Fleming Produce Company. Fleming was known for processing pecans and peanuts.
